Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the government will sell onions till the time its price in the market does not reduce. Also, expecting honesty from the common people of Delhi, he said that onion should be bought only for domestic use. Currently, onion is available for Rs 60-Rs 80 per kg in Delhi. For the time being, the Delhi government has ordered the purchase of 5 lakh kg onion for 5 days. The Delhi government is buying onion from the Centre at the rate of Rs 15.60 per kg.

Meanwhile, the BJP has blamed the Delhi government for buying onion at cheap rates from the Central government and then earning a profit by selling it at expensive rates. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has said that the Delhi government has also been unsuccessful in putting a stop to black marketing of onions.
