Farrukhabad Children Hostage Crisis Ends After 10
After a tussle of 10 hours, Police rescued uninjured all 23 children who were held hostage in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad on late Thursday night. The hostage-taker, named Subhash Batham, was killed during police action.

The incident is from Karthiya village of Mohammadabad in Farrukhabad district, where on Thursday, Batham called the children over to his house on the pretext of his daughter’s birthday and later, took all of them hostage inside the house.

On getting news of the hostage situation, the police and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) reached the spot and tried to rescue the children but failed.

During this stand-off, Batham fired at the police and also threw a hand grenade at them. Later, he also threatened to blow up the house with dynamite.

Late night, around 1 a.m., the police, along with the villagers, broke open the door of the house and safely rescued all the children. Batham, a murder convict out on bail, was killed during this police operation.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adiytanath has announced an award of Rs 10 lakh for the police team which rescued the children who had been taken hostage.
