FM Sitharaman Defends Key Budget Points In Rajya Sabha Speech
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed to the Rajya Sabha's discussion on the Union Budget 2022-23 on Friday, saying: "We opted for a budget that represents continuity, bringing economic stability and tax predictability, as well as a vision for India at 100. At a time when the economy is recovering from the pandemic, the continuity point is crucial."
Nirmala Sitharaman stated,"We focused on growth in the last budget as well, because that was the only way to move people out of the miserable situation brought by the pandemic. This budget maintains the focus on growth. In order to achieve growth, we wanted to spend public funds on public infrastructure for a contemporary 21st-century India and an India that is approaching 100 years old."
'By bringing in drones, we are able to bring in efficiencies in the usage of fertilisers, pesticides, and also make a solid technology-driven assessment of the crop density and maybe estimate the size of the yield,' said FM Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking about agriculture reforms. According to Sitharaman, "The next 25 years will be crucial for India. It's no surprise that we've given it the name Amrit Kaal. If we don't have a vision for India at 100, we'll suffer in the same way we did in the first 70 years of living, when We spent 65 years with a Congress that had no vision other than to support, build, and profit one family." Finance Minister addressed the issue of inflation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, saying: "Before the BJP, CPI inflation was 9.1%, resulting in a reduction of only Rs 2.12 lakh crores. We were struck by the global financial crisis. When the pandemic struck, however, the loss to GDP was 9.57 percent, and our inflation management was such that it was only 6.2 percent. Even a smaller problem was too much for the opposition to handle." Sitharaman took a shot at the Congress, saying that while the party was responsible for MGNREGA, it was equally accountable for how it was exploited. "Take full responsibility for the misuse of MGNREGA. In the Rajya Sabha, she stated, "We use the system transparently and properly."
