From Amit Shah To BS Yediyurappa, Many BJP Leaders
Veteran leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party including Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa on Sunday tested positive for Coronavirus.

Home Minister Amit Shah has been admitted to Medanta, a private hospital in Gurgaon, while CM BS Yeddyurappa is admitted to Manipal hospital in Bangalore. According to news agency ANI, after Yeddyurappa, his daughter also tested positive, after which she was hospitalised.


The first news of the death of UP Cabinet Minister Kamla Rani Varun was reported on Sunday morning. She was admitted to Lucknow PGI on 18 July but her condition deteriorated. After this, the cases of BJP leaders being COVID-19 positive came to light.

On Sunday at 5 pm, Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted that his COVID-19 report came positive. He tweeted, "I got the test done after showing early virus symptoms and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am getting admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get yourself tested.”

About 6 pm, UP BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh tweeted that he too has been hit by Coronavirus. Apart from them, UP Water Power Minister Mahendra Singh also tested positive.

Later at 11:30 pm, the 77-year-old Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa tweeted that he has become a victim of coronavirus infection.

Apart from these, the 80-year Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after his COVID-19 report came positive.
