Himachal Police Starts Drive Against Marijuana Farming

Himachal Pradesh Police starts drive against illegal Marijuana farming in the state. The drive has resulted in destruction of 150 ‘bigha’ of marijuana produce till now.

The illegal cultivation of marijuana in the different districts of the state is being traced and destroyed. Apart from Himachal Pradesh Police, central agencies are also involved in this campaign, which has destroyed the illegal marijuana crop on 18 ‘bigha’ land in Kullu district. 

According to the state police, so far illegally grown marijuana has been destroyed on 150 bighas of land. This campaign started on August 6 and will continue till September 22.

Statistics from the Narcotics Control Bureau show that in 2013, 4592 cases of marijuana smuggling were registered leading to the seizure of 91,792 kg of marijuana. In 2017, 21432 cases related to smuggling of marijuana were registered and 352379 kg of it was seized.
