The latest case is of Kundapur Government College in Udupi district, where some Muslim girl students reached the college wearing a hijab came into the notice of many. According to the report, saffron-clad Hindu students raised slogans and asked Muslim girl students to remove their hijab.

According to media reports, 27 Muslim students wearing hijab were coming to college for a long time, which were never stopped. The girl students say that now two months are left for the examination, in the middle of which the matter has come to the fore.

Surprisingly, local BJP MLA Haladay Srinivas Shetty reportedly advised Muslim girl students to come to college without hijab instead of reproaching the saffron-clad students. However, the girls are not agreeing to this and they say that they want to come to the college in hijab only.

In a video viral on social media, it can be seen that the principal of the college, Ramakrishna himself, is seen advising the female students standing outside the main gate of the college to come without a hijab. Girl students argue that there is no such rule regarding coming to college, so why are they being asked to come to college without hijab?

According to India.com, the principal Ramakrishna told the female students that he was not depriving them of their right to education, but he was acting on the instructions of Kundapur MLA Haldi Srinivas Shetty, president of the college development committee.

The principal said that BJP MLA Shetti had instructed him not to allow female students to enter the class in any dress other than the uniform.

Similarly, at M Visvesvaraya Government Arts and Commerce College in Bhadravati in Shivamogga district, some Hindu students attended classes in saffron shawls on Wednesday protesting Muslim female students wearing hijabs. The protesting students have demanded that if hijab and burqa are allowed, saffron shawls should also be allowed to be carried in the classrooms.

However, no such case has been reported from any college or school in the country where students were not admitted to classes in saffron shawls.

Earlier, in a pre-university college in Udupi district itself, female students were denied entry into class wearing hijab. Then five girls were deprived of attending classes for a week. Apart from not attending class over the dress code, the female students have also complained that they are not even allowed to speak in Urdu, Arabic and Beri languages.

The female students claim that though their parents approached principal Rudra Gowda for talks, they refused to discuss the issue.

"We were asked to bring our parents to the college, but when they arrived, the school authorities made them wait for three to four hours," a student told the media. "Everything was fine before wearing the hijab, but now we are being discriminated against in this way," said another student.

In this case, a student has also filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court on January 31, seeking a direction to the college that Muslim girl students have the right to wear hijab.
