The Kerala Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution against the Centre’s decision to hand over Thiruvananthapuram international Airport to Adani Enterprises, urging the Government to revoke its decision.

Moving the proposal, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that there is no justification for handing over the airport to Adani Enterprises. Considering the common interest of the state and opinion of the state government, the Union Government should withdraw the decision.”

Vijayan said that on August 19, his government had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the airport is being handed over to the private company despite opposition from the state. Therefore, no cooperation should be expected from the state.

The state's main opposition party Congress supported this proposal but attacked the Vijayan government. He said that on one hand the government is opposing handing over the airport to Adani Enterprises, on the other hand, is seeking consultancy from a law firm in which the Adani family has stake.

Leader of the opposition party Ramesh Chenithala said the state government’s deal with legal firm Amarchand Mangaldas, in which Gautam Adani's daughter-in-law Paridhi has a stake, is dubious. He said, "there was no tender process to select the consultant and the Government has betrayed the people.”
