Locust Swarms Plague Farmers In Rajasthan And Punj
After destroying crops in Gujarat, locust swarms are now wreaking havoc on the Rajasthan and Punjab border. Several thousand acres of farmers’ standing crops have been destroyed in the attack by locusts and there has been up to 60% damage to the gram, mustard and wheat crop.

Farmers are worried and despair is writ large on their faces. They are adopting novel methods to drive away locust swarms and save themselves from this terror, but it does not seem to be very successful.

According to farmers, the administration should take concrete steps at the earliest to deal with this menace, so that the remaining crop does not suffer damage, and the government should award compensation to farmers for the crops that have been destroyed.

The devastation caused by locusts hovering over agricultural fields in large numbers is increasing with each passing day. A continuous spray of insecticides is also being carried out but nothing seems to work.

Amid this, it remains to be seen how the administration will save farmers and their crops from these troublesome locusts.
