The Maha Vikas Aghadi or Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP’s alliance on Thursday unveiled the Common Minimum Program, promising immediate assistance & loan waiver for farmers, along with measures and steps ranging from unemployment to women to education.

Addressing a joint press conference with the three parties, Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde said, “We will ensure justice for farmers and small and medium businesses. Framers must feel confident that this government belongs to them. This programme has been created under the guidance of Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi.


Here are the salient points from the Common Minimum Programme:

Farmers:

  • Immediate loan waiver and assistance to the farmers suffering from premature rains and floods.
  • Revision of Crop Insurance Scheme to ensure immediate compensation to the farmers who have lost their crops.
  • Ensure remunerative prices for farm produce.
  • Construction of sustainable water supply system for drought-affected areas.
Unemployment:

  • Filling up of all vacant posts in the State Government
  • Fellowship for educated unemployed youth.
  • Law to ensure 80% reservation in jobs for local/domicile youth
Women:

  • Women’s safety — the highest priority for this Government.
  • Free education to girls from economically weaker section.
  • Honorarium and service facilities for Anganwadi Sevikas/ Asha workers.
Education:

  • Increase the standard of education in the State.
  • Education loan at 0% interest rate to students belonging to economically weaker section.
