Maharashtra & Gujarat Account For 60% Of COVID-19
The coronavirus has taken the entire country in its grip but it has affected the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat most severely.

According to Health Ministry data at 5 p.m. on April 29, the death toll from the coronavirus across the country stands at 1,008. 


Among these, 581 people have died in just Maharashtra and Gujarat. This means that around 60% of the total deaths in the country have taken place in these two states.

In Maharashtra, while more than 400 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, in Gujarat, this figure has crossed 180. 

Earlier, on Tuesday, a total of 50 people died in Maharashtra and Gujarat. In Maharashtra 31 and in Gujarat 19 people succumbed to the coronavirus.

Among the 31 deaths in Maharashtra, 25 took place in the state’s capital Mumbai, where the death toll has now reached 244.

All 19 deaths in Gujarat on Tuesday took place in Ahmedabad, located close to the capital. With this, 129 people have lost their lives due to the coronavirus in Ahmedabad so far.

The total number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra is 9,318 and 1,388 people have been discharged as well.

In Gujarat, 3,744 people have contracted the coronavirus and among them, 434 have recovered too.

After Maharashtra and Gujarat, the highest number of deaths (119) has taken place in Madhya Pradesh. This accounts for 11.80% of the total deaths in the country. At present, the total number of patients in Madhya Pradesh is 2,561.

According to Health Ministry data, by 5 p.m. on April 29, the total number of coronavirus patients has reached 31,787 and the total number of active patients is 22,982.

While 1008 people have succumbed to the coronavirus so far, 7,796 people have recovered as well.
