Odd-Even In Delhi Ends Today, CM To Review Extension On Monday
The odd-even scheme for vehicles ends in Delhi even as pollution levels remain grim. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the road-rationing scheme will not be extended for now and a final call will be taken on Monday.
Friday is the ninth and final day of the Odd-Even Scheme, launched on November 4 for 12 days in the national capital which is struggling to combat very severe levels of pollution.
On Friday, the last day of the Odd-Even Scheme, vehicles with odd numbers will ply on Delhi roads. On Thursday, the eighth day of the scheme, 475 vehicles were fined Rs 4,000 each for breaking the rule. Till now, over 4,600 vehicles have been issued challans. On the first day of the scheme, 271 vehicles, second day 562 vehicles, third day 709 vehicles, fourth day 694 vehicles, fifth day 532 vehicles, sixth day 514 vehicles and on the seventh day 552 vehicles were issued challans. Two days ago, CM Arvind Kejriwal had indicated that the Odd-Even Scheme might be extended but there has been no decision on it till now. If no decision is taken to extend the Odd-Even Scheme on the last day, then it will end at 8 p.m. on Friday.
