Over 6.4 Million Exposed To COVID-19 By Early May:
The first serological survey of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has claimed that until early May, more than 6.4 million people were infected with the novel Coronavirus. This survey shows the situation in the country when the lockdown was in force.

The survey noted that the biggest reason behind the under-detection of cases in the zero-stratum could be on account of low testing or lack of facilities to conduct tests.

Put simply, the central or state governments did not have any framework nor any preparation to deal with the health-related disaster. Many countries including China, South Korea were able to contain the pandemic because the health structure in these countries was kept tight. India missed here and today the situation is so explosive that the country accounts for most daily coronavirus cases in the world.

More than 76,000 people have been killed so far due to coronavirus infection, while the number of infected patients has crossed 45 lakh. In the last 24 hours, more than 96,000 new corona patients were found in the country and 1,200 deaths occurred.

The survey of the ICMR was conducted between May 11 and June 4 in 700 villages or wards in 70 districts of 21 states of the country, in which samples of those above 18 years of age were taken. A total of 28,000 people were involved in the survey and the results are shocking. The survey estimated 64,68,388 people, or 0.73% of adults, exposed to the coronavirus by May, but the Health Ministry figures were the opposite.

All the experts related to the pandemic had anticipated from the beginning that due to weak infrastructure, this pandemic will cause great devastation in India and which proved to be true.

In the survey, 43.3% of infections were reported in adults aged between 18-45 years, while 39.5% of people aged 46-60 years were found infected. People above 60 years accounted for 17.2% positive cases.
