Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked For 11th Consecutive D

Oil companies increased the price of petrol, diesel for the 11th consecutive day. On Wednesday, one litre of petrol was hiked by 55 paise and one litre of diesel by 69 paise. After the increased prices, a litre of petrol in Delhi is being sold for Rs 77. 28, while a litre of diesel has been priced at Rs 76.73 . Earlier on Monday, oil companies had increased 47 paise in petrol and 57 paise in diesel.

In addition to Delhi, the price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 79.08 and the price of diesel is Rs 71.38 per litre. One litre petrol in Chennai is being sold for Rs 80.86 and diesel for Rs 73.69. Similarly, petrol in Mumbai is being sold at Rs 84.15 per litre and diesel at Rs 74.32.

Petrol-diesel prices have continued to rise for the last 11 days. Prices are being increased continuously from 6 June. And so far in these 11 days, petrol has jumped by Rs 6.02 per litre and diesel by Rs 6.49 per litre. 

Congress President Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to PM Modi on Tuesday demanding the withdrawal of the increased prices. Sonia Gandhi had said that in the era of the coronavirus pandemic, when the people do not have money, the continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel is illegitimate and it is sure to hit the common man.
