Oil companies have continued to raise petrol and diesel prices for two consecutive weeks and on Saturday raised 51 paise on one litre petrol and 61 paise on one litre of diesel. After the increased prices, one litre petrol is being sold in Delhi for Rs 78.88 while the price of one litre diesel is Rs 77.67. So far in these 14 days, petrol has jumped by Rs 7.62 per litre and diesel by Rs 8.28 per litre.

In addition to Delhi, the price of petrol in Kolkata has been increased to Rs 80.62 and the price of diesel to Rs 73.07. One litre petrol in Chennai is being sold for Rs 82.27 and diesel for Rs 75.29. Similarly, in Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 85.70 per litre and diesel at Rs 76.11.

Oil companies have continued to hike petrol and diesel prices since June 6, despite fall in global crude oil prices. This continuous oil price hike during the coronavirus pandemic is like rubbing salt on the wounds of the common man.
