Sidhu Takes Pot Shots At Congress Leadership: Needs Weak CM
According to party sources the CM face is expected to be announced during the virtual rally of party leader Rahul Gandhi in Ludhiana on Sunday. Party workers are also demanding that the CM candidate should be announced. Bhagwant Mann has been made a candidate by the Aam Aadmi Party, in such a situation, if the Congress does not announce the face, then there is a possibility of losing the election. Earlier, Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, who went on the Punjab tour, had said that the CM candidate would be announced after talking to the people of the state. The survey has been done through phone calls from the public. The party has received over 5 million feedbacks on its interactive telephonic response system. It is believed that the people of Punjab are liking Charanjit Singh Channi as more and more feedbacks are coming in his support only. While people are expressing their opinion in support of Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is the state president of the party, the dilemma before the Congress party is that Charanjit Singh Channi comes from the Dalit community and this community constitutes 30 per cent of the electorate in Punjab. It is claimed by a faction that the choice of high command is Charneet Singh Channi. This is the reason why he has been asked to contest from two seats and he is contesting from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur. Whereas Navjot Sidhu will be in the fray from only one seat Amritsar, whose path will not be easy. Shiromani Akali Dal has fielded Bikram Singh Majithia from Amritsar. He is contesting from Amritsar on the challenge of Sidhu. Last month, the party had also posted a video on the official handle in which actor Sonu Sood was seen promoting Channi as the CM. Meanwhile, a video has gone viral in which Channi can be heard telling his supporters about an election meeting in Chamkaur Sahib. "I will be with Rahul Gandhi in Ludhiana on February 6 and there he is expected to announce the CM face." The Polling process in Punjab will be held on February 20.
