20 Injured As 8 Coaches Of Lokmanya Tilak Express Derails Near Cuttack
Eight coaches of the Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Lokmanya Tilak Express derailed near Odisha’s Cuttack on Thursday morning. The accident took place between Salagaon and Nergundi station at around 7 a.m.
More than 20 people have been injured in this accident and the condition of six people is serious. The injured have been admitted to Cuttack Medical College.
The cause of the accident is not clear yet but it is believed that the derailment took place due to fog. The accident site is around 12 kms from Cuttack and around 35 kms from Bhubaneswar. The Railways have announced helpline numbers following the accident, in which there is no report of any casualties at present. There were 22 coaches in the Lokmanya Tilak express and it was on its way from Mumbai to Odisha’s Bhubaneswar. A rescue team has begun relief and rescue work at the accident site. The routes of five trains have been diverted following this accident.
