4th Phase Of Jharkhand Assembly Polls Underway
Voting is underway from 7 a.m. on Monday on 15 seats of four districts in the fourth phase of the assembly elections in Jharkhand.

The BJP currently occupies 12 out of the 15 seats for which voting is taking place in the fourth phase. This time, the BJP is contesting elections on all 15 seats, while JMM is contesting on eight seats and Congress on six seats.


Votes will be cast till 5 p.m. on 10 out of 15 seats and till 3 p.m. on the remaining five seats. In the fourth phase, 198 male and 22 female candidates are contesting elections. Also, for the first time, a third gender is in the fray in this phase.

The maximum number of candidates -- at 25 -- are contesting from Bokaro seat. The reputation of several prominent politicians, including ministers, is at stake in the fourth phase.

With the completion of polling in the fourth phase, voting in 65 out of 81 seats in Jharkhand will also be complete.

In the first phase, voting had been held on November 30 for 13 seats in Jharkhand. After this, on December 7, in the second phase, voting had been held on 20 seats and on December 12, in the third phase, polling took place on 17 seats.

Voting will be held on 16 seats in the fifth and final phase on December 20. Votes will be counted on December 23.
