57 Girls Infected By COVID-19 At Kanpur Shelter Ho
57 girls have been found coronavirus positive in a government-run shelter home in Uttar Pradesh’ Kanpur. Seven girls have also been found pregnant in the shelter home, of which five are COVID-19 positive and two reported negative.

All the infected girls have been admitted to a COVID-19 hospital.

Since the girls were pregnant, questions have been raised at the Kanpur shelter home, but the Kanpur DM Brahma Dev Tiwari dismissed any untoward incident.

He said, “Two girls were brought to Kanpur Shelter Home from Agra and Kannauj in December 2019 and they were pregnant since then”.

Five other pregnant girls were sent from Agra, Kannauj, Firozabad, Etah. DM claims that all the seven girls were already pregnant.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that after conducting COVID-19 tests of 57 girls at the shelter home in Kanpur, truth came to light that 2 girls were found pregnant and one was found to be HIV positive.

Priyanka Gandhi has also questioned UP’s law and order.“The case at the shelter home in Muzaffarpur (Bihar) is in front of the country. A similar case also emerged in UP’s Deoria. So, for another such case to emerge shows that in the name of probes, everything is suppressed. But there are many inhuman incidents happening at state-run child shelter homes,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

However, Kanpur DM denying the claims, tweeted, "Some people have spread false information in connection to Kanpur Shelter Home."
