Amit Shah: Centre Will Not Touch Article 371
After the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the Centre “respects Article 371 and would not alter it in any way”.
On his two-day visit to Assam, Shah said the Centre would not tinker with the special status enjoyed by North Eastern states under Article 371. He said, “Article 371 will remain intact and the government has no intention of altering it."
"While Article 370 was temporary, that’s why it was abrogated in Jammu & Kashmir," he added.
