Anti-CAA Protesters Defy Sec 144, Gather At Red Fo
Countrywide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act have paralysed cities, with thousands detained, including historian Ramchandra Guha and Swaraj India President, Yogendra Yadav.

Chaos ensued at Delhi's Mandi House, where protestors were detained and herded away in buses, including several citizens who were not part of the demonstration.

Earlier, protesters defied Section144 imposed in the Red Fort area.

Several metro stations have been closed and barricades placed on the city borders, leading to kilometre-long traffic jams.

In light of growing protests against the CAA, UP and Karnataka governments have banned large gatherings under Section 144. The administration has cautioned people not to gather for protests.

Protestors have been detained in several cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Ahead of being detained in Bengaluru, historian Ramchandra Guha slammed the police saying they were “acting at the behest of the Centre".

Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav who gathered near the Red Fort was also detained.
