Anti-CAA Protests Across India, Hundreds Detained; Chaos At Delhi's Mandi House

Earlier, protesters defied Section144 imposed in the Red Fort area. Several metro stations have been closed and barricades placed on the city borders, leading to kilometre-long traffic jams.
In light of growing protests against the CAA, UP and Karnataka governments have banned large gatherings under Section 144. The administration has cautioned people not to gather for protests. Protestors have been detained in several cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Ahead of being detained in Bengaluru, historian Ramchandra Guha slammed the police saying they were “acting at the behest of the Centre".
