BJP Engaged In Creating Anti-Govt Atmosphere In Bengal Through Claims Of Violence, Murder
The attack on the BJP President JD Nadda's has brought the West Bengal politics to a boil. Assembly elections are due in the state next year. In such a situation, it is believed that the BJP is trying to create an anti-government atmosphere at the ground level through the claims of violence and murder. Babul Supriyo, a prominent party leader from West Bengal and a Union minister, claimed that 'as many as 130 party workers have died in recent times'.
An English newspaper quoted the West Bengal Police as saying that between the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to November 2020, there have been 47 political murders. These include 28 BJP workers, 18 TMC workers and a worker of the Socialist Unity Center of India. BJP leader Babul Supriyo, in a statement on the killing of activists, also hinted at the imposition of President's rule in the state.
After the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the family of 54 such activists were called from the state at the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, who was allegedly murdered by the TMC. In its investigation, TV media channel NDTV spoke to 23 such families, in which BJP's claims proved to be false in seven such cases. The kin of the workers themselves denied TMC's involvement in the murder. While the records of involvement of TMC workers in 7 cases are with the police. There were 9 such cases in which no evidence of TMC's involvement was found. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has claimed 8 such cases in which BJP's allegations were false. On December 7, a BJP Yuva Morcha worker was killed during protests against the state government. The party has blamed the West Bengal Police for this. While the police dismissed these allegations, saying the worker was killed with a 'shotgun' which 'the West Bengal police do not use.' However, on the same day, TMC also accused the BJP of sponsoring murder of its worker Bappa Sarkar in South Bengal, which is under investigation. BJP leaders said that those who had voted for TMC would reject the present government in a democratic manner. But now they don't think so. They allege that the law and order in West Bengal has completely collapsed. Political murders are happening daily. Many party leaders are demanding the imposition of President's rule in the state. After the recent attack on JP Nadda's convoy, the Home Ministry had summoned the Chief Secretary and DGP of West Bengal. However, Mamata Banerjee refused to send him to Delhi. It is believed that with the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to West Bengal next week, the party will start the election campaign firmly in the state.
