BJP Leader, Prime Accused In Ballia Firing, Still Absconding; Opposition Flays Yogi Govt
Making a laughing stock of law and order in Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh gunned down a man in a Ballia village in front of the SDM and CO and escaped from the spot. After the incident, opposition parties have intensified their attack against the Yogi Government.
Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav tweeted — ‘The truth of the law system has come to light in Uttar Pradesh after a leader of the ruling BJP in Ballia, openly in front of SDM and CO, escaped by killing a youth. Now see whether the ‘government of encounter’ also reverses the car of its people or not.’
BSP supremo and ex UP CM Mayawati tweeted- ‘The incident of Ballia in UP is very worrying and the ongoing harassment of women and girls makes it clear that the law and order here is dead. If the government pays attention to this, it would be better. This is the advice of the BSP.’
— Mayawati (@Mayawati) October 16, 2020
Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu also lashed out at the Yogi government. Lallu tweeted- ‘The firing by the ruling party’s representative in front of the SDM-CO indicates that the BJP is drunk in power. This murder is not just the killing of a young man, but the murder of the entire law and order. Chief Minister, return to Gorakhpur, you are not capable of providing security to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh.’
Even after 48 hours, the main accused of the incident and BJP leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh is still absconding. However, on Friday, five accused including Devendra Pratap Singh, brother of the main accused Dhirendra Pratap Singh, have been arrested by the Ballia Police. In fact, the incident took place on the afternoon of 15 October when two parties clashed in the proceedings being taken for the allocation of a quota shop in Durjanpur village of Revati police station area of Ballia district.
Domineering Dhirendra Pratap Singh along with his comrades attacked the other side and started firing, resulting in the death of a person. Surprisingly, this murder took place in front of the SDM and CO of the area. Despite this, the police remained a mute spectator. Neither the police managed to stop the dispute nor could the accused be detained and the accused absconded in front of their eyes.
