BJP Worker Held For Stoning Train In Murshidabad
A gang that used to throw stones at trains in a bid to malign the Muslim community in West Bengal’s Murshidabad has been busted by the police. The mastermind of this gang, 21-year-old Abhishek Sarkar, is a local worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to the Murshidabad Police, people from Radhamadhobatola village got hold of six persons who used to throw stones at train engines and were trying to pass off as Muslims by wearing lungi-topi (loincloth and skull caps), and handed them over to the police.

During interrogation, the accused said that they had stoned trains after changing their appearance to upload videos on their YouTube channel, but on being asked, they could not show their so-called YouTube channel.

Among the people arrested are Abhishek Sarkar. According to The Telegraph newspaper, local BJP leaders have confirmed that Sarkar is a BJP worker. However, BJP district president Gouri Sankar Ghosh has refused to accept that Sarkar is a BJP worker.

This gang’s activities are being seen as connected to a statement given by PM Modi at an election rally in Jharkhand’s Dumka on December 15. Then, Modi had said, “The scenes of those setting off fires are being shown on TV. It is evident from their clothes who is behind the arson.”

After this conspiracy came to light, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Do not fall for the BJP’s gambit. The BJP is making all efforts possible to convert protests against the Citizenship Act into a Hindu-Muslim conflagration, but it is not so. We have received intelligence inputs that the BJP is buying skull caps for its workers. BJP workers, wearing skull-caps, are making videos of public property being destroyed, so that one particular community can be maligned.”
