CAA: Assam CM Asks 'Why The Anger Against Us?'
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the backfoot due to nationwide protests against the Citizenship Law and now, the Assam government has also begun feeling the pressure of the demonstrations.

Now, Assam Chief Minister (CM) Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed his concern at the growing anger and opposition against the BJP among people in the state.

He said, “We are unable to understand why people are so angry with our government, BJP workers, Members of Parliament, ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly, despite not committing any mistake. People have been misled.”

He also said that the BJP government will do nothing which is against the interests of the people of Assam.

People’s anger can be gauged from the fact that Assam government’s minister and prominent BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma had to cover a distance of just 5 kms in a helicopter, while taking part in a programme in Tezpur, because demonstrators had blocked National Highway-15 between Tezpur and Ghoramari in protest against Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, protests are raging on in various parts of Assam. Thousands of people are stepping out of their homes to protest in a peaceful manner. People have made it clear that their agitation will go on till the Citizenship Act is revoked.
