Centre Relaxes Visa Restrictions For Certain Categ

In the midst of the rising COVID-19 infections, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed certain categories of foreign nationals to visit India. In the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has announced to restart the visa service.

According to the new guidelines, visa concession has been given for foreign businessmen, doctors, nurses, para-medical staff, and engineers. Apart from these, those technicians will also be able to get visas who come to India for the service of machines and equipment. It is believed that the Ministry of Home Affairs can end the visa restrictions imposed on the remaining public soon.

Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, “We are constantly monitoring the situation. International flights will resume as soon as the situation becomes normal."

The international movement was closed by the central government on March 12 amid growing coronavirus cases. Along with air flights, sea and ground routes were also closed for international movement. However, the Modi government was accused of delay in taking this decision. According to government data, from January 18 to March 24, about 1.5 million people came to India from abroad. It is being speculated that many among these people brought the corona infection along.
