Xi Jinping visit to India
Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India, Beijing has advocated direct talks between New Delhi and Islamabad after changing tack on Kashmir.

Earlier, China had backed Pakistan’s stance to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the proposal of the United Nations Security Council.

Now, China is giving the impression that it can be flexible. “We call on India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue and consultation on all issues including Kashmir issue and consolidate mutual trust. This is in line with the interest of both countries and common aspiration of the world,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said in Beijing on Tuesday.

The Chinese President’s visit scheduled this week is expected to be officially announced on Wednesday.
