Delhi Citizens Release Green Manifesto Ahead Of Assembly Polls
As Delhi gears up for assembly elections in 2020, United Residents’ Joint Action (URJA), the apex body of Delhi’s residential welfare associations, launched a People’s Green Manifesto on Monday, demanding that political leaders must incorporate a vision and roadmap in their upcoming party manifesto to manage pollution at every level - air, water and solid waste management.
URJA has laid out 10 key demands for the next 5 years of government to make Delhi resourcewise and sustainable by 2025 and launched the #DelhiAgainstPollution campaign to mobilise digital signatures across Delhi in support of the manifesto.
The manifesto, titled Citizens Green Manifesto for a Smart & Sustainable Delhi, has been compiled by URJA in consultation with a committee of experts ranging from subjects like air pollution, transport & mobility, urban design, water supply & rejuvenation of water bodies to solid waste management and public health. Atul Goyal, President, URJA, said, “The manifesto presents 10 public demands and expects political parties and candidates running in the elections align their manifestos with them and match their actions to it”.
