Cong-BJP Politics Over Former DSP Davinder Singh
Questions are being raised over the role of Davinder Singh, DSP in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police, who was arrested along with two terrorists in Kashmir a few days ago.

Political parties are asking how did such a huge lapse take place? In a tweet on Thursday, Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi encircled the Central government and fired a volley of questions at it. In his tweet, Gandhi asked why are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval silent on DSP Davinder Singh?

Gandhi said that the trial against Davinder Singh should be conducted in a fast-track court and he should be given stringent punishment on being found guilty. Raising questions over Davinder Singh’s role in the Pulwama attack, Gandhi asked how many more terrorists did he help, and who was protecting him and why?

Meanwhile, several Congress leaders and other Opposition leaders have demanded an inquiry into the Pulwama attack and the role of Davinder Singh, who has been suspended and preparations are underway to dismiss him. Singh has also been stripped of the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal, which was awarded to him in 2018.

After Singh’s arrest, the J&K government has ordered the security of Jammu and Srinagar airports to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The order states that the security of both airports - till January 31 - should be handed over to the CISF. Earlier, J&K Police used to handle the security of the two airports along with CRPF.
