COVID-19: 4-Month-Old Recovers After Being On Ventilator For 18 Days
A four-month-old baby girl, after being on ventilator treatment for 18 days for COVID-19, was on Friday discharged from hospital in Visakhapatnam after her reports came negative.
Visakhapatnam District Collector Vinay Chand said that a tribal woman named Lakshmi, who is from East Godavari district, was infected with Coronavirus. On May 19, Lakshmi's report came positive and her treatment started. Later the doctors came to know that Lakshmi also has a four-month-old baby girl who was also infected.
The baby was shifted to VIMS Hospital in Visakhapatnam on May 25 where she was kept on ventilator for 18 days. According to DM Vinay Chand, on Thursday, the COVID-19 test of the baby was conducted again, following which the reports came negative. “After a health check-up, VIMS doctors discharged the baby on Friday evening," the Collector said. The total number of coronavirus cases in Visakhapatnam has climbed to 252 while one death has been reported. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has 5,680 cases and 80 deaths.
