COVID-19 Death Toll At 199, Stringent Measures In
Despite all efforts, coronavirus cases in the country are increasing. According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, the death toll from the coronavirus in the country has reached 199 and the total number of patients stands at 6,412.

Among them, while 5,709 patients are undergoing treatment, 504 people have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.


According to the Ministry, 547 new cases were reported and 30 people succumbed to the disease in the past 12 hours.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, the number of patients has crossed 1,300 and 97 people have died.

The Maharashtra Home Department has closed five jails in Mumbai and Pune with immediate effect until further orders. Among them are Mumbai Central Jail, Thane Jail, Yerwada Jail, Byculla Jail and Kalyan Jail.

In Maharashtra, 23 family members of the promoters of the DHFL Group have been accused of violating the lockdown. The Wadhawan family was enroute from Khandala to Mahabaleshwar in five cars but they were arrested.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the Wadhawan family was given permission to proceed by Principal Secretary Amitabh Gupta, who has been sent on leave and an enquiry has also begun against him.
