COVID-19 State-Wise Data: Maharashtra Cases Surge
With record 6,977 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India cases have mounted to 138,845 and the death toll is at 4,021. According to Health Ministry data at 8 am on Monday, there are 77,103 active cases and 57,720 people have recovered.

At 1,635, the highest number of deaths in the country were reported in Maharashtra, where 50,231 cases have come to light and 14,600 people have recovered too. Tamil Nadu has become the second worst-affected state with 16,277 cases, 111 deaths and 8,324 recoveries, followed by Gujarat.


The sharp rise in numbers in the last few days has ensured that Bihar is now amongst the top ten states with 2,587 cases in the country. 

In Gujarat, 858 people have died so far, while 6,412 people have been discharged and the total number of patients is 14,056.

In Madhya Pradesh, there have been 290 deaths. The total number of patients here is 6,665 and 3,408 patients have been discharged. 

In West Bengal, 272 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,339 people have recovered here, 3,667 people have contracted the coronavirus.

In Delhi, there have been 261 deaths. A total of 13,418 cases have been reported here and 6,540 patients have recovered.

In Rajasthan, 163 people have lost their lives so far. While 3,848 people have recovered here, 7,028 people have contracted the coronavirus.

There have been 161 deaths in Uttar Pradesh. Over here, 6,268 cases have been reported and 3,538 patients have recovered.

In Andhra Pradesh, there have been 56 deaths. The total number of patients here is 2,823 and 1,856 patients have been discharged.

In Telangana, 53 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,854 people have contracted the virus, 1,090 people have recovered.

In Karnataka, 42 people have died, with 2,089 cases and 654 recoveries have been reported.

There have been 40 deaths in Punjab. While 1,898 people have recovered here, the total number of patients is 2,060.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 21 people have lost their lives so far. While 809 people have recovered, 1,621 people have contracted the illness.

Haryana has reported 16 deaths, 765 recoveries and 1,184 coronavirus cases.

Bihar COVID-19 deaths is at 13, recoveries at 702 and cases at 2,587.

Odisha has registered 7 deaths, 550 recoveries and 1,336 cases.

There have been four deaths in Kerala, Assam and Jharkhand. Total cases stand at 847 in Kerala, 378 in Assam and 370 in Jharkhand, while 521 in Kerala, 55 in Assam and  148 in Jharkhand have been discharged.

There have been three deaths each in Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. Total cases stand at 317 in Uttarakhand, 238 in Chandigarh and 203 in Himachal Pradesh, whereas recoveries stand at 58, 186 and 63 respectively.

Besides, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya and Puducherry have reported one death each.

The coronavirus has hit 33 states and union territories across the country so far and the number of patients is increasing rapidly.
