With record 9,304 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours and 260 deaths, India cases have mounted to 216,919 lakh and the death toll is at 6,075. According to Health Ministry data at 8 am on Thursday, there are 106,737 active cases and 104,106 people have recovered.

At 2,587, the highest number of deaths in the country were reported in Maharashtra, where 74,860 cases have come to light and 32,329 people have recovered too. Tamil Nadu is the second worst-affected state with 25,872 cases, 208 deaths and 14,316 recoveries, followed by Gujarat.


In Gujarat, 1,122 people have died so far, while 12,212 people have been discharged and the total number of patients is 18,100.

Delhi has climbed to the third spot with 23,645 cases and 606 deaths, 9,542 patients have recovered.

In Madhya Pradesh, there have been 371 deaths. The total number of patients here is 8,588 and 5,445 patients have been discharged. 

In West Bengal, 345 people have lost their lives so far. While 2,580 people have recovered here, 6,508 people have contracted the coronavirus.

There have been 229 deaths in Uttar Pradesh. Over here, 8,729 cases have been reported and 5,176 patients have recovered.

In Rajasthan, 209 people have lost their lives so far. While 6,744 people have recovered here, 9,652 people have contracted the coronavirus.

In Telangana, 99 people have lost their lives so far. While 3,020 people have contracted the virus, 1,556 people have recovered.

In Andhra Pradesh, there have been 68 deaths. The total number of patients here is 4,080 and 2,466 patients have been discharged.

In Karnataka, 53 people have died, with 4,063 cases and 1,514 recoveries have been reported.

There have been 47 deaths in Punjab. While 2,029 people have recovered here, the total number of patients is 2,376.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 34 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,007 people have recovered, 2,857 people have contracted the illness.

Bihar COVID-19 deaths are at 25, recoveries at 2,077 and cases at 4,390.

Haryana has reported 23 deaths, 1,089 recoveries and 2,954 coronavirus cases.

In Kerala, there have been 11 deaths, 651 recoveries and 1,494 cases.

Uttarakhand has reported 8 deaths, 282 recoveries and 1,085 cases.

In Odisha, 7 deaths have been reported, with 1,416 recoveries and 2,388 cases.

There have been five deaths in Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Total cases stand at 752 in Jharkhand, 359 in Himachal and 301 in Chandigarh whereas 321 in Jharkhand, 150 in Himachal and 214 in Chandigarh have been discharged.

Four COVID-19 deaths have been registered in Assam. While there are 1,672 cases in Assam, the recoveries stand at 413.

Chhattisgarh has reported two deaths, 214 recoveries and 301 cases.

Besides, Meghalaya and Ladakh have reported one death each.

The coronavirus has hit 35 states and union territories across the country so far and the number of patients is increasing rapidly.
