With record 6,566 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India cases have mounted to 158,333 and the death toll is at 4,531. According to Health Ministry data at 8 am on Thursday, there are 86,110 active cases and 67,691 people have recovered.

At 1,897, the highest number of deaths in the country were reported in Maharashtra, where 56,948 cases have come to light and 17,918 people have recovered too. Tamil Nadu has become the second worst-affected state with 18,545 cases, 133 deaths and 9,909 recoveries, followed by Gujarat.


In Gujarat, 938 people have died so far, while 7,549 people have been discharged and the total number of patients is 15,195.

In Madhya Pradesh, there have been 313 deaths. The total number of patients here is 7,261 and 3,927 patients have been discharged. 

In Delhi, there have been 303 deaths. A total of 15,257 cases have been reported here and 7,264 patients have recovered.

In West Bengal, 289 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,578 people have recovered here, 4,192 people have contracted the coronavirus.

In Rajasthan, 173 people have lost their lives so far. While 4,457 people have recovered here, 7,703 people have contracted the coronavirus.

There have been 182 deaths in Uttar Pradesh. Over here, 6,991 cases have been reported and 3,991 patients have recovered.

In Telangana, 63 people have lost their lives so far. While 2,098 people have contracted the virus, 1,284 people have recovered.

In Andhra Pradesh, there have been 58 deaths. The total number of patients here is 3,171 and 2,057 patients have been discharged.

In Karnataka, 47 people have died, with 2,418 cases and 781 recoveries have been reported.

There have been 40 deaths in Punjab. While 1,918 people have recovered here, the total number of patients is 2,139.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 26 people have lost their lives so far. While 854 people have recovered, 1,921 people have contracted the illness.

Haryana has reported 18 deaths, 838 recoveries and 1,381 coronavirus cases.

Bihar COVID-19 deaths are at 15, recoveries at 1,083 and cases at 3,061.

Odisha has registered 7 deaths, 733 recoveries and 1,593 cases.

In Kerala, there have been 7 deaths, 552 recoveries and 1,004 cases.

Himachal Pradesh has reported five deaths, with 273 cases and 70 recoveries.

There have been four deaths in Assam, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh. Total cases stand at 781 in Assam, 469 in Jharkhand, 448 in Uttarakhand, 279 in Chandigarh, whereas 87 in Assam, 185 in Jharkhand, 79 in Uttarakhand and 187 in Chandigarh have been discharged.

Besides, Meghalaya has reported one death each.

The coronavirus has hit 33 states and union territories across the country so far and the number of patients is increasing rapidly.
