Day 49: Anti-CAA Protest At Shaheen Bagh

Protests and strikes against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) are underway in cities across the country.

Protests by women continue to be held in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, with Saturday being the 49th day of protests there. People protested against the CAA, NRC and NPR in Delhi’s Jama Masjid area on Friday. 

Meanwhile, protests and strikes on the lines of Shaheen Bagh against the CAA, NRC and NPR continue in various cities of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow.

Protests by women are underway in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad too, where scores of people participated in protests and strikes against the CAA, NRC and NPR at the Eidgah Ground on Friday. Police personnel in in large numbers were deployed during this event and the entire protest was also monitored through a drone.

Protests against the CAA, NRC and NPR are going on in West Bengal too, where the TMC and TMCP took out a rally against the three provisions in Kolkata on Friday.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders protested against the CAA, NRC and NPR in Parliament premises on Friday. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and all prominent leaders of opposition parties were present at this protest.
