Deepika Padukone Faces Backlash For JNU Visit
Students are protesting ceaselessly against the violence that took place in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) late on Sunday night. Several Bollywood stars are also criticizing the attack on students. Amid this, popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone reached JNU campus on Tuesday evening in a gesture of support for students.

She also met JNU Students’ Union president Aishe Ghosh, who was injured in the attack. Padukone is the first major Bollywood star who has reached the JNU campus after Sunday’s attack.

Padukone did not give any statement while there and this step by her is being seen as related to the release of her film ‘Chhapaak’. She stayed in the campus for 10 minutes and left without addressing the people present there, after which ruckus has erupted.

People are seen boycotting her film ‘Chhapaak’ on social media and #boycottchhapaak is trending on Twitter. However, #standwithdeepika is also trending at the same time.

On Monday, artistes Diya Mirza, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Swara Bhasker, Anubhav Sinha, Gouhar Khan and Vishal Bharadwaj participated in a protest in Mumbai. Meanwhile, several big Bollywood stars are yet to speak up on this matter.
