Delhi HC Refuses To Order Separate Execution Of Ni
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday turned down the Centre’s plea to have separate execution for each of the death row convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

The Centre and the Delhi government has now moved the Supreme Court after the High Court dismissal.

The Court ruled that all the Nirbhaya convicts would be hanged together, and not separately since they were convicted for the same crime.

Justice Suresh Kumar Kait gave the four convicts — Mukesh Kumar Singh, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Vinay Kumar Sharma and Akshay Kumar —  a week’s time to exhaust all their available legal remedies. After this, the authorities would act as per rules, the judge said.

The high court, however, said, "It cannot be disputed that the convicts have frustrated the process by using delaying tactics."

Nirbhaya's mother welcomed the Delhi High Court’s verdict and hoped that a final death warrant is issued against them soon.

The four convicts have since been sentenced to death by a local court. The order has been upheld by the High Court and the Supreme Court.
