Delhi Lawyers Continue To Strike On Fifth Day
The ruckus created following a scuffle over parking between police personnel and lawyers in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court is showing no signs of ending and it has now taken a turn for the worse.
Following the lawyer-police confrontation last week, Delhi lawyers’ strike continues on the fifth day on Friday. Meanwhile, two new videos of attacks on police officers in Tis Hazari Court have come to light.
Despite the Bar Council of India asking them to end the strike, the lawyers are continuing the strike and are demanding the arrest of accused police personnel. In the video, lawyers can be seen badly beating up police personnel. The police officer being beaten up in the video is DCP Monica Bharadwaj. The lawyers misbehaved and attacked the police officers with stones and bricks. In this matter, the Delhi High Court has earlier asked both parties to sit down and resolve the dispute. The court said that confrontation between police and lawyers is not good for the public. Meanwhile, Rekha Sharma, chairperson, National Commission for Women, has condemned the incident and said that she will write a letter to the Bar Council and to Delhi Police Commissioner on the matter.
