Delhi Police Detain Students Protesting Over Jamia Firing
Protesters assembled at the Police Headquarters since Thursday night to protest against the incident of firing in Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University on Thursday were forcibly removed from the spot and detained by the Delhi Police on Friday morning.
Students from Jamia, Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University had been protesting against the Jamia firing incident in front of the Police Headquarters since Thursday night. During this, protesters had blocked the road in front of the Police Headquarters.
Raising questions on the role of the Delhi Police, protesters are demanding that action should be taken against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders for statements issued by them. Meanwhile, a case of attempted murder has been registered against assailant Gopal Sharma in the Jamia firing incident of Thursday; the Arms Act has also been imposed. The condition of Shadaab Farooq, the student injured in the firing, is now out of danger.
