Despite Delhi COVID-19 Restrictions, Shaheen Bagh
Despite the Delhi CM’s announcement on COVID2019 restrictions on gatherings of over 50 persons, ShaheenBagh protesters remain defiant on their anti-CAA protest.

Protests and strikes against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) have been underway in various cities across the country for the past three months.

A protest by women against CAA, NRC and NPR is also ongoing in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh and despite the growing hazard posed by the coronavirus, women are persisting with their protest there.

Women protesters say that they do not fear the coronavirus and will leave the protest site only after the CAA is revoked.

The protest at Shaheen Bagh goes on despite the announcement of a ban on Monday by Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the assembly of more than 50 people in any area of Delhi, in view of the coronavirus.

Several people participated in the ongoing protest at Shaheen Bagh on Monday as well.

Despite the ban on the assembly of more than 50 people, protesters are not ready to leave the protest site. The women protesters clearly state that come what may, they will not budge from the spot and will end the protest only once the CAA is repealed.

Women protesters say that almost all kinds of steps are being taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and that they are not scared of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, due to the coronavirus, crowds at Shaheen Bagh have thinned considerably, compared to earlier. Protests by women are underway in Shaheen Bagh on Tuesday as well and it is the 94th day of protests there.
