Eight Workers Dead In Fire At Ghaziabad Illegal Candle Factory, Probe Ordered
At least 8 people died in a fierce fire in a candle factory in Ghaziabad's Modinagar area . The dead included 7 women and an 18-year-old boy. Apart from these, three women have got severely burnt whose condition remains critical.
At the time of the accident, about 30 people were working inside the factory. How the fire broke out in the factory is still being ascertained. Preliminary investigation reveals that the fire broke out due to falling of electric wire on the thatch and then reached the factory. Ghaziabad DM Ajay Shankar Pandey has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the matter. An ex gratia of Rs 4 lakhs each will be provided to the kin of the deceased. According to Ghaziabad SSP Kalanidhi Naithani, there is a complete ban on making any kind of firecrackers and inflammable products in the Delhi-NCR region and the factory in Modi Nagar was operating illegally. In this factory, pencil candles used for birthdays were being made, in which gunpowder is also used. The Ghaziabad police are now searching for Nitin Kumar, the owner of this factory, with great enthusiasm.
