The administration has become alert in view of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest call by various farmer organisations on November 26 against the new agricultural laws. The Delhi Police has said that protests will not be allowed in the city, while Haryana has advised avoiding visiting several national highways for the next three days. Meanwhile, there are reports that police has arrested 12 farmer leaders by raiding several places including Fatehabad, Hisar, Jhajjar, Sirsa in Haryana.

The front of more than 300 farmers organisations has been agitating on the new agricultural laws for two months across the country. The biggest impact of this movement is in Haryana and Punjab where minimum support price is a big issue for farmers. An announcement was made by the farmers' associations to march to Delhi on November 26. It is obvious that all the routes to Delhi could be occupied by the farmers. In view of this, Haryana Police has issued advisory and advised to save lives on many national highways for the next three days.


The Haryana Police said that barricades have been erected on the road keeping in view the instructions of CM Manohar Lal Khattar to ensure "law and order".

The statement issued by the Haryana Police stated that “a specific call has been given by the peasant organisations protesting to gather at Ambala, Bhiwani, Karnal, Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar and Sonipat (before moving to Delhi). Barricading will be made to ensure “law and order”.

All citizens are being informed so that they can plan and revise their journey to avoid any inconvenience. Police forces will be deployed at Delhi's entry points on behalf of Ambala, Hisar, Rewari and Palwal.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has said that in the wake of COVID-19, protests have not been allowed in the city. Delhi DCP Ish Singhal says that the gathering of people amid the pandemic cannot be allowed. He said, 'Farmers associations of UP, Haryana and Punjab will march in Delhi on November 26-27. No mass is allowed during coronavirus. If the situation gets better, you can come here with proper permission. If the protesters still come here, then legal action will be taken.

Meanwhile, farmer organisations have reacted strongly to the arrest of their leaders. They say that farmers are being harassed at the behest of the central government. Farmer leaders have been arrested without any warrant. In Haryana, the effigy of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was burnt in many places.
