Women from the Kashmir Valley had gathered at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Tuesday to protest the abrogation of Article 370. But security forces did not allow them to demonstrate.

The protest was being led by Safia Abdullah, daughter of former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah, and his sister Suraiya. However, they were stopped from demonstrating. Srinagar police detained Safia Abdullah and Suraiya and took them to the police station.

The protesting women said that their opinion should have been asked before taking any decision on Article 370 and said that they will keep fighting against it.

The women also said that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has not done them any favours by restoring post-paid mobile services. Calling and SMS services on post-paid mobile phones had been restored in the Kashmir Valley after 70 days on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sharif Khan, a truck driver from Rajasthan, was killed in Shopian, after which SMS services were stopped there.
