Farooq Abdullah's Detention In J&K Extended By 3 M
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah’s detention under the stringent Public Safety Act has been extended by three months. The Jammu and Kashmir administration has kept him under house arrest since August 5.

Questions are continuously being raised over the prolonged political detention of leaders.

MPs from other parties, including NC, protested for the release of Farooq Abdullah during the winter session of Parliament, which ended on 13 December, but he was not released.

The Centre had detained a host of political leaders, lawyers, academics and human rights activists in the Kashmir Valley even before it abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, but many big personalities are still under house arrest.

Along with Farooq Abdullah, his son and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and another former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and other political leaders are under house arrest since August 5.
