In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus, several states are announcing fresher restrictions. Now Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has announced the lockdown on Saturday and Sunday. State Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said that from now on till the next order, the lockdown will remain in force on Saturday and Sunday in the capital Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar.

According to the new guidelines, now people moving to and from different states and districts will have to register themselves on the state government’s web portal smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in. Those coming from outside states and have undergone an RT-PCR test from ICMR-authorized lab two hours before coming to the state and the report has come negative, will get admission without any restrictions and they do not have to quarantine themselves. However, rail services and air passengers do not come under this radius.

In the four districts where the lockdown has been announced, essential services such as chemists, milk, grocery, petrol pumps, liquor shops, hotels, etc. will remain open and are also allowed to come on the national highway. Passengers landing at bus stands, railway stations, and airports have also been exempted. In addition, operations in agriculture, construction, and factories will continue.

At the same time, all government, semi-government and private offices, markets, malls, inter-city, and private buses, and three-wheeler services will remain shut during the lockdown. The total number of infected patients has crossed 4,000 in Uttarakhand with 120 new cases on Friday. Of these, 3,021 people have been discharged while 996 cases are still active. So far, 53 people have died.
