Hemant Soren Takes Charge In Jharkhand
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister (CM) of Jharkhand on Sunday. Governor Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Soren at Ranchi’s Morabadi Maidan.

Along with Soren, two Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) -- Alamgir Alam and Rameshwar Oraon, and sole MLA of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Satyanand Bhogta were also sworn in as ministers

Present at the oath-taking ceremony were Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Congress leader Mallikarjun Khadge and leaders of various political parties.

This is the second time that Soren has become CM of the state. Just a few hours after taking oath as CM, Soren called a meeting of his Cabinet and took some important decisions.

Among these decisions are withdrawing all cases registered during the Pathalgadi movement, and taking back cases filed against those who took part in protests after the Chota Nagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SNT) Act were amended.

Apart from this, the government has decided to set up fast-track courts for immediate hearing of all cases related to sexual exploitation.

A special session of the Jharkhand Assembly will be convened from January 6-8, 2020, in which newly-elected MLAs will be sworn-in. MLAs will be administered the oath of office on January 6 and the Speaker of the Assembly will be chosen on January 7.
