ITBP Soldier Fires At Colleagues Before Turning Gu
Six personnel of central paramilitary force Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been killed in an incident of firing at Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur camp on Wednesday morning.

According to media reports, the gunman is an ITBP soldier who first fired at his colleagues and then shot himself. Two soldiers injured in the incident have been airlifted to a hospital in Raipur with the help of a helicopter.


Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said that the incident took place at the ITBP’s Kodnar camp, located 60 kms away from Narayanpur district headquarters.

On Wednesday morning, a soldier first fired at his colleagues and then shot himself. Among the dead personnel are two Havaldars and four soldiers. 

Lok Sabha figures reveal that several soldiers die each year in mutual firing. According to statistics, 13 soldiers died in mutual firing in 2011, 1 was killed in 2012, 4 perished in 2013 and 7 died in 2014. In 2006, the maximum number of soldiers -- at 23 -- had died in mutual firing.
