Keeping Out The Cold With A Warm Heart
Entire North India is currently reeling under an intense cold wave. Hundreds of people die each winter just because they don’t have woollen clothes to shield them from the cold. Homeless people living on the streets face the most difficulty, since they are not well-equipped to deal with the cold.

However, a campaign has now been started in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, where any needy person can go and get woollen clothes free of cost. The Islamic Centre of India based in the Aishbagh Eidgah in Lucknow has begun their ‘The Adam’s Free Mall’ initiative, under which anyone in need can get free warm clothes.

This campaign is so effective that Lucknow’s District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash has also become a part of it. Dr Aleem Siddique of the Indian Medical Association said that doctors have also joined this campaign, the sole purpose of which is to help the common people.

Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, Imam of Aishbagh Eidgah said that service to other human beings is the biggest form of worship. He said that such centres have been set up in several places in the city, where people can donate woollen clothes and join this campaign.

The donated clothes are first sent for dry cleaning and then put up for display. Anyone can take away warm clothes from here, according to their needs, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

‘Adam’s Free Mall’ has been started on the lines of ‘The Adam’s Free Kitchen’, where arrangements used to be made to feed the poor and the hungry.
