Kerala Declares Coronavirus State Calamity After T
The Central and state governments are on alert in view of the life-threatening novel coronavirus whose effects can now be seen in many states of the country.

After three patients tested positive for the coronavirus in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has declared a ‘state calamity’ there. Apart from declaring an alert across the state, the Kerala government has also cancelled holidays of all Health Department employees.

Health services are being readied on a war footing in all districts of the state to deal with this virus. The Vijayan government has appealed to all citizens returning from China to report to the state’s Health Department without fail.

So far, no coronavirus patient has been found in any state of the country apart from Kerala but suspected patients who have returned from China are kept under observation.

All state governments have appealed to people who have recently returned from China to report to their respective Health Departments so that they can be screened for the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, a suspected coronavirus patient in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Lalitpur has been admitted to the Kanshiram District Joint Hospital. Another suspected patient in UP’s Firozabad district has been referred to Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

A suspected patient has been traced in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh (HP) as well. The HP government has started an awareness campaign to keep the coronavirus at bay.

Since the coronavirus was detected, 72,353 Indian passengers arriving from China have been screened at 11 airports. However, many passengers have managed to skip the screening.

There was bedlam at the Health Department in UP’s Ghaziabad when it was found that around 150 people have returned from a visit to China in just one month. The Ghaziabad administration has now started finding out more information about these people.
