Maharashtra: 51 More Cops Test COVID-19 Positive,
Apart from the common people and health workers, the coronavirus pandemic has now also spread its tentacles among the nation’s police personnel in large numbers.

The state of Maharashtra contains both the largest number of common people and the highest number of police personnel who have been infected with the coronavirus in the country.


In the last 24 hours, 51 police personnel have been found to be coronavirus positive in Maharashtra. Among them are 11 police officers and 40 other police functionaries.

After the samples of 51 police personnel came out positive, the total number of infected police personnel in the state has now reached 1,809.

Meanwhile, 18 police personnel have lost their lives so far and 678 have recovered from the disease.

There are still 1,113 active cases in Maharashtra. 

Earlier, 12 police personnel at Mumbai’s Oshiwara Police Station had been found to be coronavirus positive on Saturday.

According to the Maharashtra Police, while 340 police personnel have been found infected with the coronavirus in the last two days, eight of them have died.

Meanwhile, over the last week, over 700 police personnel have been found to be coronavirus positive, which is the largest figure in a single week so far. 

The highest number of coronavirus contagion cases in the country - 50,231 - has been found in Maharashtra alone. While 1,635 people have died here so far, there have also been 14,600 recoveries.
