Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Voices Concern On CAA
Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have been raging across the country for the past month. Amid this, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has said that what is happening over the CAA in India is ‘sad and just bad’.

Nadella also said that he would like to see a Bangladeshi immigrant who comes to India and opens the next software company worth crores of dollars or becomes the next CEO of Infosys.

Nadella said this while speaking to editors during a programme organised by Microsoft in the US’s Manhattan on Monday. In a tweet, Ben Smith, editor-in-chief of Buzzfeed News said that Nadella expressed these views in response to a question asked by him.

However, later Nadella also issued a statement on this entire matter. Microsoft India posted the statement by Nadella on its Twitter account, in which he said that every nation should define its borders for the purpose of national security and make policies for migrants based on it.

He also said that in a democracy, this is one topic which will be debated by the people and the government and defined within its borders.

Nadella said that along with being connected to his Indian traditions, he has grown up in an India with various types of cultures. In the US, his experience is that of an immigrant.

He expressed hope for an India where an immigrant can set up his start-up or lead a multinational company. Indian society and economy will benefit immensely from providing opportunities to immigrants, Nadella added.
